George Town in the Exumas, one of the southernmost chains of Bahamian islands, is a larger town with a big grocery store and a large number of cruising boats. We were there for the week-long Cruiser s Regatta, a festival run by the boaters that included volleyball tournaments, a coconut gathering contest, talent shows, sailboat races, a challenge softball game between the locals and the boaters, and much more. The remote little island of Staniel Cay in the Exumas holds nine cute, if basic, cottages, an 18-slip marina and bar where yachters, locals and guests meet up to gossip and have a few Kalicks (the local beer).
