The Wuppertal Institute, a German center for sustainable development policy studies, in a report on alternative transport fuels last year, said biomethane beat bioethanol and biodiesel from rapeseed or sunflower oil on both the amount of fuel produced per hectare of land, and the distance traveled on the fuel produced. The report also said that a test vehicle powered by biomethane was 140 percent more energy-efficient, measured by distance traveled per liter of fuel, than one powered by...
