On the most recent trip, the group visited the home in Calabria where one of them was born and met with the mayor of Reggio di Calabria, a Greek settlement wracked over the centuries by conquest and earthquakes. Ship collision off Italian mainland kills 3 Jan 16, 2007
The hydrofoil, operated by Italian Railways, was carrying about 150 passengers from Reggio di Calabria on the mainland to Messina across the busy strait when it collided with the Antiguan-flagged container ship, the Susan Borchard.
