    I recall the last time, I arrived in Berlin some years ago, during the Korean Conflict, on a military weekend leave from US Army Heidelberg Headquarters, and went to the Brandenburg gate to a Soviet Military monument being guarded by a Soviet guard with a machine gun. I was fortunate that a civilian dressed German who spoke English, French, Russian and German approached me; and asked me if I wanted to take a photo with the Soviet guard.
