The company intends to add up to 600 slots at the park within the next year to 15 months, he said, as well as add 90 slot games and 12 live tables to Surrey's Fraser Downs Raceway in a move toward full-service gaming entertainment. Under the terms of the agreement with Mayfield, Great Canadian will assume full responsibility for the management of the F&B functions at five of its properties (Fraser Downs, Hastings Racetrack, View Royal Casino, Nanaimo Casino, and the Casino on Broadway) in British Columbia as of October 31, 2006. Management of the hotel and F&B operations at Great Canadian's River Rock Casino Resort and Boulevard Casino in British Columbia will be transitioned to the Company on or before February 1, 2007. Expanding aggressively from its B.C. base, it made deals last year to buy the casinos in Halifax and Sydney, N.S.; Orangeville Raceway, operator of Fraser Downs in suburban Vancouver; and the Flamboro Downs raceway in Ontario. A research note from Versant Partners observed that Great Canadian shares have fallen more than 40 per cent from peak last April, and "uncertainty surrounding future leadership and concern on operating leverage likely continue to pressure the stock near-term.".
