Some years ago, I sat in Cleveland Municipal Stadium on a cold July day -- every day was a cold day at old Cleveland Municipal -- and I watched the great pitcher Steve Carlton get smacked around like Carlo from The Godfather ... The two that interest me most are Maddux and Mussina, not only because that sounds like a rock-pop duo, but because they represent the two sides of sports retirement that were so eloquently outlined for me at Cleveland Municipal Stadium so long ago. KEEPING SCORE: How the Cleveland legend changed my life Nov 14, 2008
He was in my ear at Cleveland Municipal Stadium, when my feet stuck to the ground and a metal beam blocked third base and I discovered that childhood thrill of watching a game and listening to baseball on a transistor radio at exactly the same time. He was there in the times when I felt lonely after moving away to North Carolina, those warm evenings when I would sneak into my parents car and pick up Indians baseball games to feel a bit of home. Celizic: For everything sports gives, I say thank you Nov 22, 2007
Few memories stand out as vividly from my childhood as walking into the humongous hulk of Cleveland Municipal Stadium, walking through the fetid concrete caverns and up the ramps to the nosebleed seats, then stepping out into sunshine with the most perfect ballfield I had ever seen sparkling there before me. To this day, ballparks still hold that moment of delight for me, and none does it better than Fenway Park. (MSNBC -- Sports)

His memories are of a different time, when Cleveland Municipal Stadium was a drunken combat zone braved by only the most foolhardy of visiting fans. The Indians, for the record, beat the Brewers, 6-2, that day, in the midst of the second-to-last series at old Cleveland Municipal Stadium, and I chronicled every last out with textbook, penciled-in precision.
