Hoffman's U.S. Senate candidacy upheld in Maine court Jul 15, 2008
OGUNQUIT, Maine The validity of Herb Hoffmans independent candidacy for the U.S. Senate was upheld Monday by the Kennebec County Superior Court, backing a ruling made by Secretary of State Matt Dunlap. The Maine State Democratic Party had challenged Dunlap's decision, arguing Dunlaps disallowance of three people who signed Hoffman's petition without Hoffman being present should have also invalidated the more than 4,000 signatures Hoffman had collected, thus removing him from the race.
