    Police arrest suspect in assault  Aug 30, 2008
    One of the victims, a 23-year-old Jamaica Plain resident named Jenna, who did not want her last name used because other suspects are still at large, said that when she got between the men and her friends, hoping to defuse the situation, one of the suspects punched her in the face.     Arroyo denied reinstatement bid  Aug 23, 2008
    He reported slipping on a staircase March 21 at a Jamaica Plain firehouse and injuring his back so severely that Dr. John Mahoney, a Dorchester neurologist and Arroyo's physician, wrote two weeks later that he was totally and permanently incapacitated and should be granted the pension. Police say the altercation began at a party nearby and spilled out onto the street, with the group chasing Robinson and yelling racial epithets before knocking him to the ground.     MBTA bus strikes, injures pedestrian  Aug 12, 2008
    Edward Holloman, 19, of Lynn, and Edward Mendez, 34 , of Jamaica Plain, were charged last week with stabbing Ashford at about 11 p.m. on May 31 during a fight on East Eighth Street, according to authorities. Darren Hemingway, 19, of Brighton was charged as an accessory after a murder, according to officials. (Boston Globe)

    Ave. Aug. 1 at 7:09 p.m. for a report of a disturbance and found William Barrett allegedly throwing a punch and kicking a 35-year-old Jamaica Plain man.     Bats found in Newton homes raise rabies fears  Aug 6, 2008
    Once the bats are caught, the health department transports them to the state laboratory in Jamaica Plain, which tests them for rabies. The exposed people or animals are not tested, he said, because it is necessary to remove a piece of the brain to do so. (Newton Tab, MA)

    Jay P. Rains of Duxbury, Michael R. Anderson of Quincy, and Christopher Bratlie of Marshfield have legal troubles beyond their alleged participation in a racially motivated beating and stabbing of an African-American teenager from Jamaica Plain in June. The three men were on probation for unrelated felony charges, and Plymouth District Court Judge Robert Welsh said July 24 that the three men had violated their probation by allegedly participating in the beating and said they already had terrible...
