    Deputy hurt in cruiser crash  May 26, 2007
    A preliminary investigation indicates Deputy Robert Michael Anderson, who was hired by the Sheriff's Office in September, was driving in emergency mode northbound on U.S. 27 near Frostproof when he struck the trailer about 9:45 p.m.. According to a Sheriff's Office report, the driver of the flat-bed trailer, being hauled by a Volvo Freightliner, was attempting to make a U-turn and head south on U.S. 27. (Orlando Sentinel)

    Crist Vetoes 12 Polk Projects; Only 6 on List  May 26, 2007
