Samsung releases its first dual function Blu-ray drive  Oct 9, 2009
The COMBO drive also features low power consumption and an aerodynamic frame design to lower acoustic noise, Samsung stated in a press release. The drive has an updated look with the front bezel, or front panel, including a mirror front door design and blue LED. The drive is also lighter weight and has a shorter body than previous iterations of Samsung's Blu-ray drives, which reduces internal heat and helps to make disc loading more efficient, Samsung said. Steelers now have plenty to overcome (Yesterday)  Jul 24, 2009
What a very good thing it is that his luxuriant gift bag from the ESPYS included a pair of Quiet Comfort 3 Acoustic Noise Canceling Head Phones, because Big Ben Roethlisberger figures to be absorbing a ton of highly disagreeable noise over the coming weeks and months. Eight days out from Steelers training camp, the psychic landscape for the team's most pivotal player and, by inescapable extension, the defending Super Bowl champions, is suddenly a morass of potential sinkholes. Why birds collide with airplanes  Feb 16, 2009
By placing electrodes in the section of the brain that responded to sounds, I discovered that the most sensitive region of the birds' hearing was in the 1 to 3 kilohertz range - which, interestingly, is also the peak acoustic noise output of a modern jet engine. In other words, the intense jet noise may interfere with a bird's ability to hear by over stimulating the bird's inner ear hearing receptors. (Boston Globe)
