    Leica never made serious impact on photography with their SLRs to the extent they did with their iconic rangefinder cameras. Without a significant SLR owners base Leica did not have any legacy lens or backwards compatibility issues to compromise the design of the S2. (Suite101.com)

    The reason is that unlike Panasonics G1 and GH1, which tend to look like smaller DSLRs, the E-P1 follows another design philosophy altogether, with a design reminiscent of Olympus old Pen series half-frame rangefinder cameras. So what we get is a super-sleek and super-chic metal-bodied camera not much bigger than a standard compact digicam that turned heads wherever I brought it to. (The Star Online, Malaysia)

    While Olympus' Micro Four Thirds effort is steered initially toward small models resembling the rangefinder cameras from the film era, Panasonic's G1 is relatively expensive and bulky, smaller than an SLR but not something that fits into a pocket easily. Some wags have called the G1 a "Barbie SLR." But it shows what can be done with Micro Four Thirds, leading Popular Photography magazine to name the G1 camera of the year. (CNN -- Tech)
