    We needed a dual-purpose mixer that could give us a signal through a USB port and operate as the sound system at the venue, so we settled on an Alesis MultiMix 8USB that could handle four Samson mics and run a signal straight to a notebook (we used an Apple PowerBook G4).     The internal drive was in a PowerBook G4 that had been partially "backed up" in the sense that all the stories written on it had been emailed to The Age where IT staff handle the archives ...     Then the choice is iMac, Mac Mini or Macbook/ Powerbook, get something portable that connects also to your tv or you can take to the library. The Apple store does refurbished models or check eBay. (Sydney Morning Herald -- Australia)
