In 2003 I bought a Sony Vaio that was the lightest in weight among 15" laptops. One of the ways Sony cut weight and thickness was by making the CD drive external. Apple's choice not to include a DVD player in the Air is hardly an innovation--it's a sacrifice. The Air looks stunning and I would be proud to be seen carrying it.
