    Strickland and Ohio Tax Commissioner Richard Levin said most taxpayers would still pay less in state income tax this year compared to 2008 even if the rate is returned to last year s level. That would be the case, they said, because the increase in the personal exemption that wage earners receive on the income tax is $1,550 this year, an increase of $50 compared to last year s exemption.
