Several difficult obstacles made the 2008 season a rough one for the Nevada baseball team, but the challenging campaign provided plenty of learning experiences for a young Cub squad. The Cubs opened the tournament by pulling off a 10-inning squeaker against Des Moines Christian. Nevada saw an 8-6 lead evaporate in the top of the seventh when DMC scored three times, but the Cubs tied the game in the bottom of the inning and after two scoreless extra frames, they won the game with a run in the 10th.
