Area thinclads eye gold May 26, 2006
The McPherson area track and field teams appear to have numerous candidates for state gold this weekend at the Kansas Track and Field Championships at Wichita State. Regional champions from last week included Canton-Galva's Stephen Jowers in the 300 hurdles, Smoky Valley's Rowdy Jones and Jenna Koch in the long jump and discus respectively, Little River's Trevor Viers and Adrien Stolifer in the shot put and javelin respectively, and Moundridge's Shayna Kaufman in the discus. Coach Strano has been named the State of Kansas track and field coach of the year three times, been named the Section Five coach of the year three times and recently received an unprecedented award, her second National Coach of the Year.
