Mel Agee was remembered Monday as a friend who would reach out to help his former Illinois teammates and who remained a huge fan of Illinois sports teams after settling in Georgia. Agee, a graduate of Chicago's Washington High School who played defensive tackle for Illinois in 1987-90, died of an apparent heart attack Sunday at his home in Lawrenceville, Ga.
