The Columbus City Council Tuesday proclaimed Oct. 13 as Henry Armstrong Day, in honor of the boxer whom Sports Illustrated magazine once identified as one of the 100 greatest athletes in the country and Ring magazine called one of the top three boxers of all time. Brenda Caradine, Glenn Lautzenhizer, Susie Shelton, Oliver Miller and Rufus Ward asked the council to issue a resolution honoring the Columbus native, in connection with this year s Hazard Lecture Series.
