HERKIMER Herkimer got off to a quick start and finished fast as well as it beat Utica 15-3 in a Girls U16 Senior League Softball game Tuesday night. SOMERSET Mitch Merryman smashed out three hits, including a grand slam, and Dillon Brant collected three hits to power Knepper's to a 21-15 victory over Findley's in Somerset Senior League baseball Sunday. Three hours before the game, Clippard -- sporting a "Senior League Baseball World Series 2001" T-shirt and looking too young to shave -- walked around the clubhouse, chatted with fellow rookie DeSalvo, tried on a batting helmet, tossed a ball in the air, and finally slumped onto a couch and watched scenes from the 2005 remake of "Bad News Bears.".
