    Maggie now lives with four other African elephants, and they have formed loving bonds and a natural social structure, which can never happen when elephants are alone, as in Maggie's case at the Anchorage Zoo, or in Ruby's case at the Los Angeles Zoo. Both elephants lived in inadequate and small zoo pens in solitary confinement, which is unthinkable for such social animals who in the wild, can roam up to 50 miles per day. (Anchorage Daily News)
