Authorities say five people were hurt, including three who were hospitalized after a boat explosion in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Copter makes emergency landing Aug 15, 2009
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- The pilot of a tour helicopter returning from the Grand Canyon has made an emergency landing in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, the second to do so this week. The Park Service says the aircraft's controls indicated an electrical problem and the pilot landed the copter as soon as possible Thursday evening as a precaution. (Pocatello Idaho State Journal, ID)

LAS VEGAS - Park rangers say an Arizona man has died of exposure in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area after his SUV got stuck in the sand. National Park Service spokesman Andrew Munoz said Wednesday the body of 43-year-old Steven Corso was found by a park visitor on Aug. 5 on a dirt road about a half mile from his SUV, which was stuck in a wash.
