Art that is forged out of a particular social and political consciousness often squelches its own potential for endurance on the spot it is without continuing resonance because it resonates too attuned to the sights and sounds of the particular time and place in which it was made (its the historical-literary equivalent of cheesy snyth effects that stamp otherwise timeless 80s pop songs with the stain of their era, at least until the Ataris do a cover of them).
