    Born and raised in Bradenton, Loudermilk was encouraged to pursue a life of music by his uncle, Bus Strong, a multi-instrumentalist best known for his years with the jazz combo Red Nichols and his Five Pennies. He learned to play ukulele and banjo at age 8, and played clarinet in his junior high and high school marching bands. (Herald-Tribune)
