Lots of drumrolls for Haynes  Feb 6, 2007
Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays's un-swinging "James" interrupted the momentum, Shaw struggling manfully with the tune before Bejerano miraculously pumped life into it with a two-fisted, Latin-inflected solo. The set ended with the Al Jolson/Saul Chaplin chestnut "Anniversary Song," in swinging 6/8 time that gave plenty of latitude for Haynes's elaborate cross-rhythms. (Boston Globe -- Living)

Few musicians have won a wider audience for jazz  Feb 6, 2007
" That show is syndicated nationally (and to London) and reaches five million listeners, according to Lewis, though he's heard estimates of up to eight million. On his "Legends of Jazz with Ramsey Lewis" television show on PBS, performers appear in twos and threes. One show, for instance, teamed the understated elegance of veteran guitarist Jim Hall with guitarist Pat Metheny, who combines jazz, rock, folk and electronic sounds. The show is renewed for 2007 and will go from a half-hour to an... (The Star Online, Malaysia)

Good guys aren't always so good  Feb 5, 2007
Chercover writes: "In the living room, she put on a nice quiet Pat Metheny album. 'Watercolors,' I think." Now that's a cool head -- playing name-that-album when you're about to score with Susan Sarandon. Needless to say, Ray Dudgeon handles the rest of his troubles with equal aplomb. Seeking Synergy  Jan 30, 2007
" Kevin Delaney, Jacob Kreamer, Beth Kaczmarek, Kate M. Lieberth and Jenna Maule wrapped themselves in the black full-body (and head) leotards and nailed the slouching leaps and insect-like propeller arms. Former Taylor star Patrick Corbin set the piece. But the comedy never quite came through in Tharp's 1976 "Country Dances," despite technically impressive performances. Compact Alec Lytton is the man at the heart of this slapstick hoedown, and though his control and line are dazzling, his... (San Francisco Chronicle -- Entertainment)
