Flashy lights, a fog machine and scantily clad go-go dancers gyrating on top of PA speakers gave the band an air of legitimacy they had hoped for - sure, there may be a celebrity among us, but we're a real band, man. Surprisingly, Grenier's drumming chops were fairly adept, but that wasn't why a gaggle of swooning 20-something women had planted themselves firmly in front of the stage. All they have to do is orient the PA speakers opposite of the way they have them, and that would solve a lot of problems ... By placing the PA speakers close to the crowd and near ground level, Ellis believes much of the sound generated by the concert will be swallowed up before it ever leaves Ogren Park. (Missoulian, MT)
Channeling anger May 6, 2006
The reason for this probably has to do with my proximity to the PA speakers, which function at the Food Hole solely as vocal amplification so it was all screamy, trebly angst. Black Cobra played a set comprised mostly of songs from their soon-to-be-released album, Bestial. (Vanguard, OR)
