Under the direction of Carl Crosier, the choirs will sing "Justorum animae" by Stanford, the Evening Canticles (Collegium Regale) by Herbert Howells and "Faire is the heaven" by William Harris. Twenty years ago, not too many instrumentalists would even have heard of Herbert Howells, let alone chosen one of his works as a solo vehicle. English to the core, Howells's "Edwardian modern" Rhapsodic Quintet (1919) was New York clarinettist Dimitri Ashkenazy's unusual choice for some sophisticated and subtle mingling with the Omega strings.
