Showcase in the city for fine instrumentalists  Oct 28, 2008
It was over to the engine room of the orchestra, the strings, for Benjamin Britten's Variations On A Theme By Frank Bridge. In spite of a rival Sydney Symphony concert taking place at the same time in the Opera House, Dene Olding led a very classy line-up of players who made this horribly tricky work sound convincing. Review: British music played sans a stiff upper lip  Dec 3, 2007
Saturday night, the Montclaire String Quartets richly detailed concert of music by the English composers Ralph Vaughan Williams, Frank Bridge and William Walton (plus one of Haydns late quartets) swept those notions aside, revealing three strikingly different works. Well, Vaughan Williams Phantasy Quintet (1912) began with a viola solo, played tenderly by Sandra Armstrong Groce, that sounded unmistakably modal, folklike and rustic, and those qualities connected its four movements. In the footsteps of Rostropovich  May 9, 2007
Making a rare and welcome appearance was the Oration: Concerto Elegiaco by Britten's teacher, Frank Bridge, eloquently delivered by Colin Carr. This is a work strong on atmosphere and harmonic invention, and only lacking the kind of a sharp thematic profile that might persuade more soloists to adopt it and push for repertoire status. 'Call me Slava'The unrivalled talents of the Russian cellist Rostropovich  Apr 29, 2007
Thankfully, there are recordings of this inspiring partnership - not least of which are glorious accounts of cello sonatas by Debussy and Frank Bridge, works by Schubert and Schumann, as well as pieces by Britten himself. Emotional charge. (BBC News -- Entertainment)

    Radio review  Jan 17, 2007
That's how far we have forgotten Frank Bridge, the British composer who was great friends with Benjamin Britten (and immortalised in his work, Variations of a Theme of Frank Bridge). I warmed to Bridge, who kept himself busy, working as a jobbing musician, teacher, composer and conductor, but still found time to also be "a wild and unconventional tennis player".
