Extreme, the other funky metal band from Boston, topped the charts in 1991 with More Than Words, a McCartneyesque ballad, and then quietly disbanded five years later when guitarist Nuno Bettencourt abandoned ship and Gary Cherone took a gig as the new Sammy Hagar in Van Halen. But they're back now, having just released their first new album since the breakup, Saudades de Rock, which apparently translates as Nostalgic Yearning For Rock (a much better title). See, despite the fact that the former Extreme singer fronted Van Halen for nearly three years, and performed on 1998's Van Halen III, Cherone won't be coming to the HOF ceremony.
