    " The festival is made up of a 280-member band, a 200-member orchestra and a 600-voice chorus. Band students had to audition individually with two pre-selected etudes and a solo of choice, which lasted about one minute. They also had to play their major and chromatic scales, Ewan said. Meanwhile, flutist Natalia Stimac was chosen as a first alternate, meaning she has the potential to be named to the band if open spots occur at any of the other five audition centers around the state.
