We've read in about ten million articles that The Charlatans U.K. were the "also-rans" of Manchester's happening music scene back in the 90's when The Stone Roses and The Happy Mondays were hogging all the town's attention ... But for all this talk about the slow and windy path to rock star success (count 17 years and nine albums), The Charlatans U.K. are starting to show a bit of wear and tear ... If The Charlatans U.K. aren't enthused about their music, then why should anyone else be. (San Diego Union-Tribune -- Entertainment)

It's not uncommon for bands to run into trademark disputes, but the conflict is usually with other groups -- resulting in doctored-up names such as Dinosaur Jr. or the Charlatans U.K.. A similar case arose recently between the pop duo the Postal Service and the U.S. Postal Service, but it was amicably resolved: The band will perform at a USPS convention in November. The Charlatans U.K. are hard at work on their eighth album, which is being tentatively scheduled for a spring release. Lead vocalist Tim Burgess released a solo album, "I Believe," in September in the U.K. and Europe via PIAS records (Billboard)
