It was a move in keeping with Cracker front man David Lowery's irreverent worldview, which he honed in the '80s with the cult rock band Camper Van Beethoven. When Camper called it quits in 1990, Lowery (at right, with Johnny Hickman) formed Cracker and scored a Top 10 hit in 1993 with "Low" from the album "Kerosene Hat." The band has released five studio records since, though none has fared as well commercially, despite Lowery's strong songwriting. (CTNow.com)
