In the years since that encounter, Waters has ascended to a level of showbiz legitimacy that surely even he never seriously imagined. (VHI.com -- Music News)
Putting the bite back into horror Nov 12, 2007
" The genre has recently emerged from a phase in which a self-consciously clever-clever sense of irony ruled. The Scream and Scary Movie films as well as the tail end of the Freddy, Chucky and Friday franchises seemed almost embarrassed to do horror straight. The films were full of knowing winks to the audience and continual, often irritating references to the form itself. In New Nightmare (1994), the final in the Elm Street series, and Seed of Chucky (2004), the latest in the Child's Play... (The Age)

Since its creation in March 2004, Rogue has had a fairly successful run, with hits such as "Balls of Fury," "Hot Fuzz" and "Seed of Chucky." John Waters makes a date with death Mar 21, 2007
Waters has had acting roles before, guest-starring on such shows as "My Name Is Earl" and appearing in films like "Seed of Chucky" as well as some of his own, but he's hoping his fans will see a new side of him in " 'Til Death" while he reaches a new audience as well. That's a Wrap Nov 8, 2006
So, the going story with Rogue Pictures is that, in 2004, classy art-house outfit Focus Features (I love 'em) had picked up the rights to Seed of Chucky, but weren't too keen on sullying their good name and by releasing the heap (by then, they had their stamp on Gosford Park, The Pianist, Lost in Translation, and 21 Grams, among others), so they created Frankenstein-ish, low-grade clone Rogue to do the job. Going It Alone, Focus Features' CEO Is in the Spotlight May 20, 2006
Launched two years ago, Rogue has struggled to find an identity, seeing only one hit with last year's British spoof "Shaun of the Dead." Misfires such as "The Seed of Chucky" failed to cash in on the lucrative horror genre that competitor Lionsgate has milked with low-budget hits such as "Saw.".
