    W, Oliver Stone, 129 mins, 15  Nov 9, 2008
A-grade supporting players perfectly catch the tone of the inner circle: Toby Jones is an affably crafty Karl Rove and Scott Glenn a desiccated Rumsfeld, although Thandie Newton's Condoleezza Rice has little to do but wince sourly till late in the film, when her nervy staccato cadences kick in uncannily. Stacy Keach steals the show as the preacher who gets Dubya on the Jesus team; even he looks nervous when his acolyte starts spouting about divine calling. (Independent)

    Review: 'W.' surprisingly thoughtful  Oct 18, 2008
While Cromwell doesn't deign to affect Bush 41's vague, nasal speech patterns, Stone has assembled a Cabinet that could certainly pass muster for the real thing in a dimly lit wax museum: Scott Glenn as the asinine, gung-ho Donald "Rummy" Rumsfeld; Thandie Newton, transformed into an unreasonably eager-to-please Condoleezza "Condi" Rice; Jeffery Wright, looking dyspeptic as Colin Powell; Toby Jones as the calculating Karl Rove; and Richard Dreyfuss, outstanding as Dick Cheney, the real brains... (CNN)

    Movie review: 'W.'  Oct 18, 2008
As Stone's point of view is decidedly anti-war, Don Rumsfeld (Scott Glenn) and Assistant Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz (Dennis Boutsikaris) hardly come in for friendly treatment. But the one Stone really has it in for is Condoleezza Rice, who gets it worse than anybody. (San Francisco Chronicle)

Josh Brolin is superb as folksy and likeable W.  Oct 18, 2008
We see him at cabinet meetings with Dick Cheney (Richard Dreyfuss), Donald Rumsfeld (Scott Glenn), Karl Rove (Toby Jones), Colin Powell (Jeffrey Wright), Condoleezza Rice (Thandie Newton) and more. What comes across in these scenes is the sense that Bush is a simple man surrounded by very intelligent people who know how to sway his thinking. (Hillsdale Independent, NY)

Bush in a barrel Biographical sketch takes easy shots at Commander ...  Oct 16, 2008
On the other hand, the parade of notable character players -- Ellen Burstyn, Thandie Newton, Scott Glenn, Bruce McGill, Stacy Keach -- almost becomes an end unto itself. The film doesn't benefit narratively from the 90 seconds it devotes to the intriguing real-life friendship between George W. and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, but, hey, isn't that the guy who was Mr. Fantastic. (Daily Herald)

    Feelin' Sorry for W  Oct 16, 2008
