Four years after Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone, New Line Cinema started releasing those wonderful Lord of the Rings movies, which were followed by a dozen other fantasies, from the long-forgotten Reign of Fire to the tremendously popular Night at the Museum. Meanwhile, in bookstores, young adult fiction became overrun with books trying to simultaneously be the next Harry Potter and tap into the desperation of Potter fans who couldn t wait any longer for the next installment.
