Yes, we still love "The X-Files" Jul 28, 2008
"Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose" (as a confirmed nerd, yes, I know the titles), with Peter Boyle as a sad, yet hilarious, psychic; "Small Potatoes," with a shape-shifting schmo played by the series' best writer, Darin Morgan; even the pilot, with its immediate Mulder-Scully spark and a story set in "Bellefleur, Oregon.". They were just as good as I remembered. (The Oregonian - OregonLive.com)
Hail the monster Jul 26, 2008
How about that Clyde Bruckman (Peter Boyle), an extraordinary psychic who can see the future (except the winning lottery number), eh. Can anyone forget the bizarre tale of Jose Chungs From Outer Space or the man in black (Michael McKean) who takes over Mulders physical form after a body swap in the humorous Dreamland. (The Star Online, Malaysia)
Will 'X-Files' be worth wait? Jul 22, 2008
And some were outstanding in every regard - "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose," in which Peter Boyle (he won an Emmy) brilliantly portrays a man who can tell how people will die. Mulder's future demise is appropriately bizarre, but Scully's is the most meaningful, or at least inscrutable. (AZCentral -- Entertainment)

Theres even an actual revelation: Bob Newhart had been the producers first choice for the title role in Clyde Bruckmans Final Repose, for which Peter Boyle won a well-deserved Emmy. Rounding it out are trailers for the series DVDs and the movie, and a 27-minute fan Q the films stars and producers. (Seacoast New Hampshire)

Wright is Wrong May 2, 2008
Jeremiah Wright is working out the decades of frustration, having attempted to do good works for the poor and underserved in Chicago while Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have been on the national stage in top hats and tails like Gene Wilder and Peter Boyle singing "Puttin' on the Ritz.". But the unkindest cut of all comes, again, from the Dana Milbank piece: "Most problematic for the Democratic presidential front-runner was Wright's suggestion that Obama was insincere in distancing himself from... Wit intact, Gene Wilder looks back, wryly Mar 22, 2008
Not only was the movie that had been more fun to make than any he'd ever worked on about to be finished - he played the title role in a dream cast that included Peter Boyle, Marty Feldman, Teri Garr, Gene Hackman, Madeline Kahn and Cloris Leachman - but he was going back to an unhappy life in a miserable marriage. "Transylvania was heaven," Wilder told a packed house at the Castro Theatre on Wednesday night, and he didn't want the mad-scientist make-believe world to end. (San Francisco Chronicle)
Putting on their dancing shoes Mar 1, 2008
" What are you going to wear? Pants. Which "Dancing with the Stars" celebrity do you identify with most? Mario Lopez, Billy Ray Cyrus, Heather Mills - others? Actually, I move like (the late) Peter Boyle from "Young Frankenstein," but I'm not sure he's been on the show yet. Or Wayne Newton. Have you taught your partner/spouse any of your "moves"? As an encore victory dance, and there will be a victory dance, we'll be breaking out "The Robot" to "Electric Avenue. " Do you plan to continue dancing... (Athens Banner-Herald)
Like A Virgin Feb 24, 2008
The "Puttin' on the Ritz" number, the scene between the Monster (Peter Boyle) and the blind man (Gene Hackman) and just about any scene featuring Madeline Kahn are all hysterical - and, of course, I'd seen all of them before, in documentaries, on YouTube, everywhere. Watching the actual movie straight through was amusing, though hardly necessary. (San Francisco Chronicle -- Entertainment)
Walker: a DVD review Feb 17, 2008
Its the films coup and cop-out that history isnt sacred (Peter Boyle cameos as a farting Cornelius Vanderbilt), but then, for Cox, history is farce repeated as farce; the worst of the past always serves as an allegory for the present; history is always regrettable and never properly regretted. Like so many filmic history lessons, Walker, for all its goofiness, is still just as self-important as its totalitarian subject. (Yale Herald, CT)
Two musicals dish out silly fun Nov 23, 2007
As the monster, Shuler Hensley is even better than Peter Boyle, intimating delicacy and heart behind his gross jokes. Only Megan Mullally falls far short, never approaching Kahn's comedy. (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, PA)
Young Frankenstein's Monster Opening Nov 10, 2007
One thing the critics seemed to agree on is the musical's highlight: the showstopping rendition of "Puttin' on the Ritz." The duet between Frankenstein and his monster (Shuler Hensley in the role created onscreen by Peter Boyle). With Brooks' track record and the monstrous advance ticket sales, Young Frankenstein could be critic-proof for a while. (E! Online)
Puttin' on the shtick Nov 7, 2007
" Unlike "The Producers," which was a buddy story, "Young Frankenstein" is three separate "love" stories: one about a "40-year-old virgin" (Stroman's take) who falls in love with his sexy lab assistant; the father-son story about the doctor and his creation; and the tale of a cold socialite who finds a special kind of gratification with the monster. Favorite lines from the film turn up in Brooks' 17 songs, among them "Roll in the Hay," which makes judicious use of background video (and the... (AZCentral -- Entertainment)

Redfords politics hit the big screen in Lions Nov 3, 2007
Politics stinkRedfords characters always have to be dragged into politics most famously, or infamously, Bill McKay in The Candidate, who is tempted to run for U.S. Senate by a slick Karl Rove-ian figure played by Peter Boyle. Especially not this outsider quartet best known for iconoclastic and prickly roles in films such as "Boxcar Bertha" and "Bound for Glory (Carradine), "Silent Running" and "Black Sunday" (Dern), "Cross Creek" and "Men in Black" (Torn), and "The Sting" and "Dog Day Afternoon" (Durning).
