Now look whos shot Andy Warhol  Mar 15, 2007
About halfway through Factory Girl we get the point. Andy Warhol, played by an emaciated Guy Pearce in white make-up, is interviewed by an obsequious journalist who mentions the fact that Warhol s art movies are being referred to as pornography by the mainstream establishment. (Times Online)

    Double Lives  Feb 12, 2007
David Bowie played Warhol in Basquiat, and Jared Harris did it in I Shot Andy Warhol, but, for whatever it s worth, Guy Pearce is the best Andy yet. He s taller and stronger than Warhol, but he has the appropriate interior slump, the ineffable malign vagueness, the oddly mesmerizing voice that turns every statement into a question. (New Yorker)

Rewind: Who's The Best Of Hollywood's Many Andy Warhols?  Jan 3, 2007
Andy is played by Jared Harris (son of Richard), an actor who's made a career of playing characters with a tenuous connection to so-called normal life in films like "Natural Born Killers" (1994), "Happiness" (1998), "Smoke" (1995) and even 1998's "Lost in Space," in which he made the adult Will Robinson as creepy as Dr. Smith. Not only does Harris play Warhol with a believable detachment and just the right sense of bemusement, his pocked, unglamorous mug adds a physical believability that's... (VHI.com -- Music News)

    Factory Girl  Dec 29, 2006
Without facially resembling Warhol (as Jared Harris did in the superior "I Shot Andy Warhol"), Pearce is exact in both vocal delivery and physical movement. Filmic use of color and black-and-white, plus pallid re-creations of certain Warhol pics (including several of his "Screen Tests"), has fewer ties to Warhol cinema than to the multiformat work of cinematographer Robert Richardson. (Variety)

    * Creative marbles are there to be lost  Aug 18, 2006
For this new film, he has tapped the excellent Paul Giamatti, who plays Shyamalan's hero, a building manager with the torturous name of Cleveland Heep, and, in smaller roles, the fine character actors Jared Harris and Jeffrey Wright. Also along for the strange ride are other familiar indie-film types like Bob Balaban, Sarita Choudhury and Bill Irwin, who seems content to sit in the dark here doing precious little. (Taipei Times, Taiwan -- World)

Mary Harron: The notorious queen of cool  Jul 29, 2006
For the film, Harron pulled out all the stylish stops, employing many of the ensemble cast, such as Lili Taylor and Jared Harris, who had worked on her first feature, I Shot Andy Warhol, that told the tale of Valerie Solanis, her Society For Cutting Up Men and her attempted assassination of Andy Warhol in 1968. On its release, I Shot Andy Warhol was the hippest film on the block as it accurately portrayed New York at its most decadent, its most attractive and its most provocative. (Independent)

Jared Harris, Cindy Cheung, Joseph D. Reitman, Mary Beth Hurt, Sarita Choudhury, Bob Balaban, Jeffrey Wright, Freddy Rodriguez, Bryce Dallas Howard, Paul Giamatti. DIRECTOR. (San Diego Union-Tribune -- Entertainment)

Sure, the superb cast also includes Jeffrey Wright, Jared Harris, Mary Beth Hurt, Freddy Rodriguez, Bill Irwin, and the lovely Sarita Choudhury, but Shyamalan plays the film's heaviest supporting role, a writer who's composed a book that, according to Story, will change the world. She pays him further superlative compliments and tells him of his important destiny. (Boston Globe)

Detail overload detracts from originality and stellar performances  Jul 21, 2006
They are part of an excellent, unusual ensemble, with Cheung and Choudhury proving to be scene stealers and veterans such as Mary Beth Hurt, Bill Irwin and Jared Harris among the players in small roles. The cast, however, is almost too big, and you imagine actors elbowing each other for camera time. (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, PA)

Into The Deep End  Jul 21, 2006
Highlighting the rest of the supporting ensemble are Sarita Choudhury as Shyamalan's sister, Bob Balaban as a stand-offish new tenant, Jeffrey Wright as a crossword puzzle fan, Freddy Rodriguez as a bodybuilder with an unusual goal, Cindy Cheung as a vivacious student, Bill Irwin as a shut-in and Jared Harris as a middle-aged slacker. 'Bettie' is all undressed with nothing to say  Apr 21, 2006
Jared Harris portrays British shutterbug John Willie as the dissolute artist of this bunch, assuring Bettie, ''I liked what you did with that riding crop. "Bettie willingly dons the 8-inch stilettos and latex bustiers, chatting blithely with fellow model Maxie (Cara Seymour) about the prim upper-class lawyer who bankrolls their work: ''He's not normal, but he's nice." The unceasing sea of men snapping away changes when Bettie travels to Florida for a photo session with the sympathetic pinup... (Boston Globe -- Living)

Notorious Bettie Page  Apr 19, 2006
Harron, whose sober approach to obsession is evident in such earlier films as ``I Shot Andy Warhol'' and ``American Psycho,'' cuts loose in only one scene, when Page (played by Gretchen Mol) tells fetish photographer John Willie (Jared Harris), ``I believe in Jesus,'' while strung up against a wall like a prisoner at Abu Ghraib ... CastGretchen Mol, Lili Taylor, Chris Bauer, Jared Harris, David Strathairn. (San Jose Mercury News -- Entertainment)

EW review: 'Scary Movie,' 4 shame  Apr 17, 2006
Later, in the studio of Irving Klaw (Chris Bauer), who does fetish photographs for specialty clients, she puts on all that bondage gear -- corsets, leather boots laced up her thigh -- as if it were a sci-fi costume, and when the photographer, a gently scurrilous bloke (Jared Harris), asks her to snarl like a tiger, she does, and beautifully, but she's really just a little girl playing dress-up. Harron has a great time staging these scenes as a demented workplace sitcom, with Klaw, a sad lump of... (CNN -- Showbiz)

The original bondage girl  Apr 16, 2006
When a pornographer with the improbable name of John Willie (Jared Harris) asks her how she reconciles God and dirty pictures, she explains, while trussed up in a crucifix pose, that God gives each of us a gift, and hers is posing. When her boyfriend gets upset with her lesbian bondage photo spread in a magazine, she is perplexed: It was just horsing around that seems to make some special customers happy. (Globe and Mail)

'Hard Candy': Pedophile Nightmare, By Kurt Loder  Apr 15, 2006
" Bettie Page (it was "Bettie" on her birth certificate, but she was almost always billed as "Betty" in her photo layouts) is a Nashville girl from a religious family who's come to New York by Greyhound bus, fresh from a failed marriage. After knocking around town for a bit, she drifts into the orbit of Irving Klaw (Chris Bauer) and his sister Paula (Lili Taylor), a strangely amiable, middle-aged pair of skin-trade entrepreneurs who run a sort of mom-and-pop mail-order pinup factory. As part of... (MTV.com)

The Notorious Bettie Page is too tame  Apr 12, 2006
Among the supporting cast, Jared Harris is the standout as a lovably impious photographer who works with the Klaws. For Mol, The Notorious Bettie Page is both a triumph and a minor tragedy triumph, because shes such an infectious and sprightly figure as Bettie; tragedy, because she deserves a better movie to showcase her performance. (MSNBC -- Movies)

    Delicate people  Feb 18, 2006
Set in an ordinary suburb of Memphis, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch, Lisa Dillon, Jared Harris and Sandy McDade as the two young couples in varying stages of marital crisis, the play may very well surprise anew. After all, London audiences have been treated for years to memorable revivals of the Williams classics, offering larger-than-life characters in exotic settings and engaged in equally exotic behaviour.
