    I don t know how about being consistent and choosing Ian Holm since he played Bilbo in the first movie. They had to make Ian Holm look older to play Bilbo in that series and Bilbo isn t exactly young the Hobbit so it would be appropriate to use Holm as he actually looks ... people may have forgotten that bilbo was 50 when he went on his adventure so I was hoping Ian holm would play bilbo too. Once that key piece of casting was in place, other name actors clamored to climb on: Blair Brown, Roger Rees, and Harris Yulin all accepted small roles at what Rudavsky describes as "below the low-budget SAG minimum.".
