Pineapple Express Review Aug 6, 2008
Dale is smoking some while waiting outside the home of Ted Jones (played by Office Space's Gary Cole), a suburbanite he must serve. A cop named Carol (Rosie Perez) pulls up behind him, panicking Dale enough that he tosses his joint away. (IGN FilmForce)
In drug-addled 'Pineapple Express,' there's a lot to take in Aug 6, 2008
Then the plot kicks in: Dale witnesses a gangland rub-out by local drug kingpin Ted Jones (Gary Cole, looking appropriately Mr. Big circa 1983) and his lady-cop lover and accomplice (Rosie Perez) ... Starring: Rogen, James Franco, Danny R. McBride, Amber Heard, Gary Cole, Rosie Perez. (Boston Globe)
Review: 'Pineapple Express' Aug 6, 2008
This becomes a vexing issue for Dale when he leaves a roach behind at the scene of a crime he has just witnessed, the murder of an Asian crime boss at the hands of a corrupt cop ( Rosie Perez) and her drug lord lover (Gary Cole). Finding himself a gangland target, Dale efficiently implicates his high-school-aged girlfriend Angie (Amber Heard), her parents ( Ed Begley Jr. and Nora Dunn) and the epically out-of-it Saul. (Los Angeles Times)
"Pineapple Express" Aug 6, 2008
Nearly everything about "Pineapple Express" is a gimmick -- a slow-moving, unglamorous gimmick in which a number of terrific comic actors (Ed Begley Jr., Gary Cole and Rosie Perez, to name just a few) are treated as afterthoughts, while more limited performers, like Rogen, who plays one-half of the movie's stoner-hero duo, are allowed to soak up more of the spotlight than they deserve. It's possible that "Pineapple Express" is much funnier if you're totally baked. (Salon)
A movie for dudes? Aug 6, 2008
The picture evolves into a crime escapade after Rogen witnesses a murder and he, Franco and middleman Danny R. McBride (from The Foot Fist Way ) get mixed up with violent drug entrepreneur Gary Cole and dirty cop Rosie Perez. The screenplay was written by Rogen and pal Evan Goldberg, with whom he grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia, and, like their hit Superbad, it's based on youthful adventures. (San Diego Union-Tribune)
Pineapple Express AU Review Aug 5, 2008
After ditching the dooby, Dale realises the pot is so rare that it's completely traceable back to them, and the duo begin their run from a drug baron (the always talented Gary Cole), a crooked cop (Rosie Perez) and two scene-stealing hitmen (Kevin Corrigan and Craig Robinson) ... Gary Cole and Rosie Perez don't have a lot to play with in terms of character development. (IGN FilmForce)

Boldly going one toke (or more) over the line Aug 5, 2008
The story revolves around a process server, Dale Denton ( Rogen); his hapless, sweet-natured pot dealer, Saul Silver (James Franco, cast against type in the role Rogen originally intended to play); and the local drug lord (Gary Cole), who starts hunting the two when Dale witnesses a murder. "I think my spin was to try to make it not a cartoon," he said. (International Herald Tribune -- Arts)
James Franco is 'Pineapple' surprise Aug 3, 2008
Franco and Rogen spend much of the movie trying to stay one step ahead of their pursuers (played by Gary Cole and Rosie Perez). The comedy also stars rising comedy actor Danny McBride. (AZCentral -- Entertainment)
Seth Rogen: Adolescent on call Jul 31, 2008
Rogen and James Franco portray a pair of feckless stoners who end up on the hit list of crooked cop Rosie Perez and powerful drug lord Gary Cole after Rogen accidentally witnesses a murder. "The original idea came from Judd Apatow actually," Rogen explains. (Vancouver Sun)
"Pineapple Express" should create box office buzz Jul 22, 2008
Rogen's Dale Denton is a likable loser of a process server who suddenly finds himself on the lam along with his permanently baked drug dealer, Saul Silver (James Franco, in a delightful change of pace), after witnessing a murder by a notorious drug lord (Gary Cole) and a dirty cop (Rosie Perez). As they all effectively hold their own, along the way they encounter a parade of potential scene-stealers, most notably Danny McBride ("The Foot-Fist Way") as Silver's yellow-bellied, back-stabbing bud... "I wish I could be sympathetic," Amelia tells her frustrated dim-bulb son (Gary Cole), "but that's what happens when you attend church at Six Flags Over Jesus.". "Bad Road" may not be edgy in the traditional HBO sense, but I did find it entertaining, and, after getting accustomed to the tone in the first few episodes, it eventually became an addictive comedic soap. Review: Cooper brilliant in OK 'Breach' Feb 19, 2007
A long, uniformly credible supporting cast (Laura Linney, Gary Cole, Dennis Haysbert) confirms how expert American actors have become at making subterfuge seem like business as usual. In the end, though, Ray's careful emphasis on authenticity over thrills and psychology over action is impeded by this narrative's narrow window: there's so much we can't know about what Hanssen did and why.
