After 1949's Adam's Rib, this romance between a shady promoter and female jock is probably best of the nine movies Hepburn (as Pat) made with Spencer Tracy. Take Me Out to the Ball Game (1949, Warner, $20) is the only period baseball movie whose male leads (Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly, Jules Munshin) extol their double play finesse by singing Ryan to O'Brien to Goldberg, a tune that did not exactly knock Mule Train off the '49 pop charts.
