5 Questions with Crispin Hellion Glover  Jul 19, 2008
His put-upon character even inspired a catchphrase ("Hello, McFly"), the mid-'80s version of "talk to the hand." But even though Glover's acting career has remained healthy through big-budget projects like Charlie's Angels and Beowulf, his personal projects have veered into much more bizarre territory, particularly his work-in-progress, avant-garde film trilogy laced with taboo-challenging elements, such as the use of mentally challenged actors. The films are not exactly mega-plex fare so Glover... (Calgary Herald)

Journey to the Center of the Earth Review  Jul 16, 2008
Journey has been hyped as an unparalleled 3-D experience, but I have yet to see a 3-D movie -- even the lauded Beowulf -- where the 3-D stuff didn't get real tired real fast. Hollywood keeps trying to convince filmgoers that 3-D is the future of cinema, but isn't it really the medium's past. (IGN FilmForce)

Dark Knight Shift: Why Batman Could Exist--But Not for Long  Jul 15, 2008
Consider that literature from ancient times are full to bursting with characters and stories that would fit nicely into todays superhero comic books: Gilgamesh, Beowulf, Hercules (who actually IS in several superhero comic books), and various others. We need heroes; that they sometimes appear in monthly magazines with pictures and sound effects does not change the fact that humanity still needs to be inspired to act and strive to become more than what we are. Journey to the Center of Dave  Jul 13, 2008
In recent years some upscale films, notably Robert Zemeckis' Polar Express and Beowulf, have been available in 3D.
