    Prior to the establishment of the Minuteman Library Network, the library could not furnish enough copies of the books for the group meetings and members would buy their own.     is adding millions of records to its global online library network following four recent deals with libraries and institutions in Europe and the Middle East. The Dublin nonprofit, formerly Online Computer Library Center, unveiled a spate of deals this week that it says boosts the collection of records in its WorldCat database and in turn raises the profile of the groups signing on.     Sony launches Amazon challenger  Aug 27, 2009
    "Enabling consumers to access free eBooks via the public library network and Google's public domain collection (which now tops 1 million volumes) - and letting consumers buy ePub books from other sources and read them on Sony's devices -greatly expands the value proposition of its devices," said Ms Rotman Epps.     Brookline library technology finally on its way  May 2, 2009
    The system, which Brookline is adopting alongside several other libraries in the Minuteman Library Network, was originally criticized by some in town as an unnecessary and untested technology that would eat up town money needed for other projects. Library supporters, however, argued that the technology, which is similar to that used in Fast Lane transponders or MBTA Charlie Cards, would help library staff keep up with growing circulation demands without hiring new staff.     I propagandize tirelessly for libraries, and I've railed in this space against what one blogger calls the "Googleization of America." But just a few days ago, while cooling my heels waiting for the Minuteman Library Network to deliver my copy of Garry Wills's 1991 "Under God," I wondered: "Is it available on Google Books?".     Foot traffic up, but circulation flat at Newton library  Feb 19, 2009
    Of 35 libraries in the Minuteman Library Network, the Newton Free Library was one of two not to see an increase in the number of books, DVDs or CDs checked out from 2007 to 2008.     As economy tanks, more residents turning to Brookline libraries  Feb 8, 2009
    Across the 35 towns in the Minuteman Library Network, the number of items checked out last year was up 7 percent from the prior year. The Public Libraries of Brookline, which have become the second busiest in the system, were also up by 7 percent. (Brookline TAB, MA)
