Volunteers needed for Special Olympics Expo Jul 23, 2009
Posted: Thursday, July 23, 2009 SIOUX CITY -- Volunteers are needed to help stage the 22nd annual Special Olympics Expo on Aug. 1 at Leif Erikson park and swimming pool. The Parks and Recreation Division will have clinics on tennis, softball, volleyball and swimming for Special Olympics athletes, followed by a free lunch for participants and volunteers. WPA workers built Roberts (now Elwood Olsen) Stadium, started work on the Grandview Park Bandshell that was finished by the city and built the original Leif Erikson swimming pool.
