A Jean Lafitte police officer has been arrested after allegedly burglarizing a car, said Sheriff Newell Normand. Normand said 27-year-old Anthony Molinario, of 1120 St. Marie in Luling, faces a charge of simple burglary of a vehicle. (WWLTV.com, LA)

On his return to Galveston Island, Aury discovered that Jean Lafitte, a privateer/pirate who had gained fame during the battle of New Orleans in 1815, had taken his place as leader of the pirate community based there.
