When he premiered a furniture collection for Driade in 2005 in Milan, Fukasawa said the evolution of his Ishi sofa design started with a river rock. His Muku furniture collection the next year, also for Driade, came from the simple, honest post-and-lintel wood construction of Japanese temples. (San Francisco Chronicle)
