    The club s White Cane Day Collections date back to sometime in the mid-50s when members joined with Lions Clubs around the world and adhered to Helen Keller s challenge for Lions Clubs International to become knights for the blind. The funds collected on this day are split between the club s own Eyeglass Program the Lions Eye Bank of Texas, which advances sight restoration by providing donor eye tissue for corneal transplants and research.
