    Due to unforeseen circumstances with my first child, I went though labor and delivery at Beverly Hospital rather than the NSBC. I ended up having the exact opposite birth I had hoped for, including pitocin induction. By the grace of God I still had my midwife from the NSBC with me and was able to deliver without pain medication and as naturally as possible. (Beverly Citizen, MA)

    Speaking as a nurse in a hospital labor and delivery unitl: I have seen many more bad things happen at hospitals due to un-necessary medical intervention than I ever have seen complications at home births attended by qualified midwives. (I have also worked as a homebirth midwife s assistant in another state) Many doctors seem to have the attitude if I mess it up, I can always fix it whereas I have rarely seen midwives take un-necessary chances.
