The unusually rainy June and July months could have contributed to the proliferation of WNV this year, and could potentially do the same for another virus, Eastern equine encephalitis, or EEE, which last year s drought kept down for this summer ... The Board of Health is mostly worried about the second two weeks of August through early September, a time frame typically marked by EEE outbreaks (if any) and which would warrant a motion to spray. However, there have not been any reported cases of EEE so far this year, and at this point in time the Board of Health will actively monitor the area, continue catch basin treatment, and await further developments.
