According to the California Highway Patrol, Canfield attempted to overtake a speeding vehicle at 1:52 p.m. Wednesday when a Toyota Camry driven by Thomas Lake, 79, of Sacramento, made a left turn in front of Canfield into the parking lot of a Catholic church. After the collision, Canfield's motorcycle went out of control and struck a sign post, according to the CHP report. (Lodi News Sentinel, CA)
