    "Look at Quandary Peak (a fourteener in Summit County). It used to be almost inaccessible," says Ralph Swain, wilderness coordinator in the regional office of the U.S. Forest Service in Lakewood. "Now, instead of having to drive up from Denver over Loveland Pass and go over a rough county road to the trailhead, people just go up from Breckenridge on their summer vacation.". (Denver Post)

    Erin Stebbins, a 13-year-old Summit County resident and avid recycler, was awarded the Lisa Simpson Outstanding Youth Award for having adopted the pond by Big-O Tires in Frisco and an open space parcel below Quandary Peak. The Greener Summit Business Award was presented to Mark and Mel Glenn, owners of Conscious Coffees, also known as Breckenridge Coffee Roasters, in recognition of their commitment to organic, fair-trade, shade-grown coffee and waste reduction.     The two returned to Quandary Peak on November 16, the anniversary of the avalanche, to stare up from the road Wisniewski was eventually carried out on. With less snow this year, the steep rock hed fallen down looked impossible to survive (Holden Landmark, MA)
