This is the Valley Performing Arts 34th season now, and after Spider s Web, the lineup includes family friendly picks such as Babes in Toyland and The Secret Garden. Also scheduled are I Hate Hamlet, Inherit the Wind and Barry Manilow s adaptation of The Drunkard, intended for more mature audiences. (Wasilla Frontiersman, AK)

Children still arrive at the concert with their gifts in hand, anxious to be called together and led by Santa Claus through Memorial Hall to the orchestra s performance of March of the Toys from Babes in Toyland. The children dressed and primped adorably for such a special event weave their way around the hall, finally arriving at the giant gift box next to the orchestra, into which they d plunk their presents given for children they d never know. I have many good memories from there, but I especially remember Babes in Toyland in the early 60s. The line to get in was wrapped around Castile s and Annette Funicello and the talking trees did not disappoint. (New Iberia, LA)
